We have enjoyed a lot at Tobacco Barn in particular and the Dordogne area in general. The only bad thing was that it was only 3 days. My friends, my wife and me were very happy and we think that your home is a very recommended place to spend time in the Dordogne. We want to say thank you too for their nice treat.

We had a family get-together in the largest gite (Main House) and found it excellent for our needs. It is spacious, well appointed and beautifully situated with much to do and see in the near vicinity. Philippa and Paul were on hand and very helpful with a couple of bottles of wine and a bowl of walnuts to welcome us. Would recommend it.

Paul and Philippa were welcoming, knowledgeable, accommodating and helpful. They helped us to be well set before we even arrived in several ways, including booking a reservation at the closest restaurant for our first delicious meal. (Then they also assisted us by booking a hotel and suggesting more good restaurants for our next destination.) Their suggestions for meals in nearby restaurants were appreciated as they were all accurate and well enjoyed. The gite was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything we needed was provided. The location was close to all of the medieval castles, rivers and other sites we were interested in. Within 800 metres of our gite was a series of caves dating back 55 thousand years. These caves could be seen from the gite. We feel our stay was even better than anticipated in every way!!

Great location with plenty of space for all generations to be free to do their own thing and come and go as they wished, yet retaining the essence of togetherness for an extended family holiday or event. Designed so family was able to dine together and be together at all times of the day. Two Swimming Pools an enormous benefit with chairs and seating aplenty. BBQs put to good use and adequate to feed 17 people! Local supermarket very handy and good value. Also Bakery and local restaurants excellent. Made to feel so welcome by Paul and Philippa Ward the owners who were on site at all times for advise and assistance when needed. Will certainly go again, and hopefully so will the grandchildren and our relations.

We spent 5 nights at the Haybarn and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The cottage is spacious and well equipped for a self catering holiday. The website pictures accurately depict the property and its facilities. Paul and Philippa are warm and generous hosts who gave us some very good advice about local attractions and restaurants, and Philippa's walnut cake was delicious! The location is great as it is near enough to the small town of Montignac with supermarkets and other shops but is in a tranquil setting near the Vezere river with a view to La-Roque-Saint-Christophe. It is a perfect base for exploring the villages of the Dordogne. We highly recommend this property.

Apart from your extraordinarily nice hosts Paul and Philippa, what makes this place stand out is its location right at the center of a region that is incredibly rich in historic and prehistoric sites. One of them, the cliff city of Roque St. Christopher, is right across the river, maybe 300 meters from the house, and provides scenic background when you're lounging by the pool. It is, of course, also very much worth visiting. Countless other sites lie within less than an hour's driving distance, among them the famous Lascaux cave.
The apartment itself is cozy and comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, so just staying there for a calm a lazy day or more is definitely an option.

We spent a week at this beautiful and centrally located vacation home and loved every moment. Paul and Philippa are terrific hosts, as they were so friendly and helpful, yet allowed us all the privacy we needed. They have several different units, ranging in size, but The Tobacco Barn unit was perfect for us. The beds and bathrooms were comfortable and clean, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the outside area was beautifully maintained.
The property is directly across the River from the Le Roque St. Christopher cliff dwellings, a beautiful sight, and centrally located for all the caves, attractions, restaurants and small towns that abound in the region. Paul and Philippa will help you with choices and reservations, if needed.
Right down the road about a mile is a wonderful campground, where you'll find a nice little pub with a very generous happy hour. Make it a point to stop in.
All in all, a great value and a comfortable home away from home in maybe the most beautiful region in all of France.

We stayed in the main house with all our family which included toddler's, a very young baby, teenager, young adults & us the grandparent's. We all had a wonderful holiday, the house was fantastic and had everything we needed including a beautiful swimming pool which had a gate so was very safe for the young children. The place is in a great location with lots to do including lovely walks by the river which was just opposite ! Phillippa & Paul were perfect hosts and very helpful. Thank you to them for a wonderful holiday. Really missing the sun pool & house already ! Thanks again Phillippa & Paul and we hope to see you again sooner rather than later !

I almost don't want to write this review - this property is so popular, we'll never get a chance for availability again!! We came to Le Manoir 9 years ago with a group of friends, and armed with good memories, we chose to come back in August as our family of 4. We stayed in the Tobacco Barn, which was perfect: opened out onto the pool, our own dining area with a superb view of the Roq. Paul and Philippa had the perfect touch: informative, inquisitive, but with respect for our privacy as well. It was my husband's birthday during our stay, and Philippa snuck in a cake and candles while we were around the pool! This was just one of many personal touches that made our stay very special.
The house is exceptionally well placed for exploration of a fascinating region of France, and the village has a restaurant and small shop/ bakery within walking distance. An excellent campsite is also nearby which is happy to accept non-campers for happy hour.
We look forward to a future stay in Le Moustier with Paul and Philippa, and can't recommend it highly enough.

This was the third time we have visited Le Manoir des Granges and this time our visit was even more enjoyable. Philippa and Paul have updated and improved the house and are excellent on site hosts. The house is perfectly situated by the River Vezere where one can enjoy walking, kayaking, exploring the many historic sites in the area or just lazing by the pool. Philippa and Paul are helpful, friendly and always on hand to offer advice and suggestions to further improve the holiday experience.
