Nice experience at the Dordogne. We stayed 5 days in April 2017 at HayBarn with our two dogs. A great experience to rent this house and with Paul and Philippa suggestions we saw the best places of the area. A peaceful, quiet and *** place to stay. We will return, hope very soon, probably with motobykes. Ahh dont forget to have a morning walk to the boulangerie, only 5 minutes to the town.

Ce petit logement est très charmant, et sa vue imprenable sur la Roque Saint-Christophe est magnifique... un grand merci à Philippa et Paul pour l'accueil.

Paul and Phillipa were so friendly and helpful with recommendations where to eat, canoe trips, caves to visit. The tobacco barn was very clean with good beds and plenty of space for 4 adults. It was so nice to start and end the day sitting in the gazebo by the pool. Great location. We could walk to the boulangerie to get bread for breakfast- there was a path through the field of sunflowers. We highly recommend this as a place to stay and we would definitely return.

Three families together - hard to find comfortable accommodation for all - but Le Manoir came up trumps. Six bedrooms each ensuite and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of kitchen equipment and dining ware and if we needed something Philippa the owner was happy to loan it from her own things. In the height of summer we ate every meal outside and hardly used the lovely lounge but it's there if the weather turns. The kids walked to the boulangerie every morning for fresh bread and croissants. The five minute walk away restaurant had closed which was a disappointment but made us go further afield sharing the driving and finding some lovely eateries. Cycling, running and walking from the door - the road is a D road but never bothered us - and plenty to see and do within a reasonable radius. Philippa and Paul always on hand for advice on anything. Weather gorgeous and this gave us one of the few down sides - hot bedrooms at night - but plenty of electric fans on hand to help. The pool and table tennis table were well used and plenty of shade for reading and relaxing. Would we stay again? Yes!
Reply from Paul and Philippa:
Thank you for the lovely review; we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay, we enjoyed *** your group. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. We like to know that people have found their stay clean, comfortable and well equipped. During the summer the temperatures can be very high. Luckily we have shutters on nearly all of the windows of the main house which helps to keep the indoor temperature at a manageable level. The two mobile air conditioning units are perfect for using in the bedrooms on the second floor whilst, as you have said, the fans in the bedrooms on the first floor keep the temperature cool for a good nights sleep. Our new table tennis table has proved to be a big 'hit' with our guests this year; also our new pool cover which has improved the temperature of the water. We are always looking for new ways to improve the quality of our accommodation which is very often based on the feedback from our guests. The village restaurant, which has new owners who speak excellent English, German and French, is due to open on 12th October - only 2 weeks to wait! They will be doing new menu's every day, vegetarian options and a separate coffee/bar area too. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

We stayed at the Walnut Store for a week. Lovely gite and a great location. Paul and Philippa are really friendly and welcoming hosts and were very helpful suggesting good restaurants in the area and making reservations for us.

We stayed two weeks in the Hay barn and it certainly is an ideal holiday venue. The gite is very comfortable , well equipped and nicely furnished ( as are all the other 3 and the maison itself -we were nosy and checked them all out !) . So there are a number of options dependent on the size of the party - from couples to larger groups. The location is great with a small shop for daily needs a 3 minute walk and the variety of shops/ supermarket a short drive into montignac. Lots of choice of places to eat a short drive away, the immediate area and all the tourist places of interest in the vezere and dordogne valleys . The hay barn has added benefit of a secure fenced patio so is dog friendly too.much appreciated by our bouncy boxer puppy. Paul and Philipa are very helpful , welcoming and conscientious hosts . We are looking forward to a return visit in the future .

I stayed in the Tobacco Barn with a friend, at the recommendation of other friends. We loved the gite, the location, and especially the hospitality. Paul and Philippa were terrific.
